Nordic Combined Mode

Post by greekskijump »

Hi Jussi, thanks for the new lovely update of the game. It really gave a new breath of fresh air to it and i think everyone is happy with all the new features.

Being a big fan of Nordic Combined it is really sad that there aren't any games for that sport and i had an idea of maybe a feature update (or a even a paid DLC repackage) for this game. I know it isn't the most famous sport but i had to share my idea for it.

DSJ 4 already has the ski jumping aspect of NoCo, so i thought about the creation of a mode that allows a simulation of the cross country part of it. Since adding new animations and etc will be both hard and time consuming (also i don;t know how the game engine would handle it) my idea is to use attributes for both the athletes and the cross country tracks. The simulation of the race could be something like the earlier Football Manager games, with the use of text only or maybe dots that show the athletes on track. Even just the names of the athletes moving along the standings would be ok.

The athletes could have attributes like Strength, Stamina, Speed, Hill Climb ability, Sprint ability, Gliding, Tactical Mastermind.
Tracks could be set with percentages of hill climbs (how steep they are), wideness, straights etc. all of them connected to specific athlete attributes.

And of course it will have the different types of races like Gundersen, Mass Start, Compact and old ones like Penalty race for example. Also the team and superteams setting basically allow team and Sprint team events aswell.

I would like to know what others who may enjoy Nordic Combined think of this. Thank you!!

I don't think Jussi has that kind of skill to do that. However, Ski Jumping "Nordic Combined" mode can be done, because they usually jump from higher gates. But then, world records would need to be separated and hills adjusted I guess
