The official Mediamond website displays amount of people currently online in the game, which as we know varies a lot. Most of the day only few people play (or nobody at all) and then in the evening it peaks.

For a brand new player - if they visit the website for a first time and see "Currently playing: 0" this can cause them to leave and not even try the game. Or try but not purchase because they may think the game is dead.

What about adding few more stats to this section on the website? Something like this:

Currently playing: X
Active players this week: YY
Active players this year: ZZ
Most active players this year: XXX

Simple to implement, and highlights that the game is alive and well

I would go for:

Registration keys sold: xxxxx
Players with active online subscription: xxx

Active players today: xx
Active players this week: xxx
Active players this month: xxx

I would delete "Currently playing: 0" - as it is discouraging to potential new players.

Yes exactly.

I added stats showing the current number of active online subscriptions. There's no finer grain data directly available.
During the off-season time the number of active subscriptions is not very high either since many players only activate online subscriptions for 3 months during the Winter.
