I wanted to set up a World Cup. After two events I had to exit the competition mode. I saved the World Cup. But when I wanted to load the game as the next event, it showed me the first one instead of the third. The results of the two completed events were erased (this happened both in the “load game” tab and in “continue previous game”). When I tried to overwrite the World Cup save, an error popped up. After restarting the game, my entire created season and all the athletes I had created two hours earlier were deleted. The system simply reverted to the state from before launching the game.
What could have gone wrong here? How do you save the World Cup so that after leaving the mode you can continue the game right where you left off?
On some players there has been a problem when overwriting previous save game. Windows for some reason fails to remove the folder from the previous save game and the game crashes to that failure before being able to write the new files. I'll improve this so that the folders are not removed but the contents will be just replaced. Right now it's safer to save the game on new name than to overwrite previous one.

With regards the game reverting to earlier state in saved game I am not quite sure what could be the cause. OneDrive may be syncing old versions of the files from the cloud and overwriting the local changes done by DSJ4 or something like that. This requires more inspection - and feeback.

If the game crashes at any point you should be able to use "Continue Previous Game" option to continue where it was left (not in the middle of competition, though).

Please note that if you already have started the season and add or edit ski jumpers / teams / super teams / cups during the season they won't appear automatically to the main off-season configuration. If you want to apply the changes to main configuration then you have to use the "Synchronize" functionality. The reason for this is that there are now multiple save game slots and players may be playing multiple different seasons at the same time and they all must have their own configuration.

Xinitiao wrote: 25 Nov 2025, 11:57 I second the question about synchronization - it would be nice to have a description of each of the options there :)
Synchronize functionality is there to move the season (runtime) configuration back to main configuration. You may have added / edited / removed ski jumpers / teams / super teams / cups after starting the season or made other changes to season settings. These changes are not automatically copied to the main configuration.

In the synchonization dialog you can choose which changes are synced back to the main configuration

For ski jumpers / teams / super teams / cups you can choose whether "Added", "Modified" and/or "Deleted" files are synced:
  • "Added" means that new files which exist in the season (runtime) configuration but not in the main configuration will be copied to the main configuration.
  • "Modified" means that files in the season (runtime) configuration will be copied over the corresponding files in the main configuration.
  • "Deleted" means that the files that exist in the main configuration but not in the season (runtime) configuration will be deleted from the main configuration. Use with care!
For other synchronization options the corresponding season (runtime) file will simply be saved to main configuration to replace the current version.

If you want to manage the different configurations manually in Windows you will find the season (runtime) configuration from "<Documents>/Deluxe Ski Jump 4/Runtime" -folder.

I found the actual bug behind this and will release a bug fix soon.

This update addresses only the clear bugs - not suggested improvements. For the improvements I need a bit more time.

Jussi, powinieneś dodać zakładkę plików do pobrania, aby móc pobrać starsze wersje gry, np 1.12.0, na wypadek takich przypadków.

I made a quick hotfix for the online game server joining problem that was present in DSJ4 v1.12.1.
DSJ4 v1.12.2 now available from: https://www.mediamond.fi/dsj4/downloads/

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi Jussi,
I have encountered an error that is very frustrating and discourages me from playing your game.
This error persists even after uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
This is a problem with forcing the video adapter settings. I should mention that I don't install new driver versions very often, nor does Windows install them for me.
Could this be a problem caused by two monitors?

No such plans currently. It would then probably be called Deluxe Ski Jump 5 already.
maybe DSJ 4 1.2.0 ? or 2.0.0
I think this would rekindle players' interest.

Resume saved game

Can someone explain to me what the problem is, that the game has already thrown me back to the beginning of the competition several times? I managed to get to the third or fourth event multiple times, and then it took me back to the start. Could the problem be that I went into a competition and changed the jumper there in the jumper selection? Should I only change jumpers during the competition via “Continue saved game” → “Competitor selection” and only change the jumper there? Or is there some other issue?

Yes - “Continue saved game” → “Competitor selection” and only change the jumper there.

DSJ4.exe disappearing automatically + installer MoveFile error (code 5)

Posted: 03 Dec 2025, 00:11
by LuksAdrenakyn
I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue with installing and running DSJ4 – it first happened in version 1.12.0, and now it’s happening again in 1.12.2.

1 – Installation error

During installation, I often get the following error:

MoveFile failed; code 5 – Access denied
(“An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory”)

It seems like the installer is unable to create or overwrite the DSJ4.exe file in the Program Files (x86) directory.

I also tried running the installer as Administrator, but the issue persists.

2 – DSJ4.exe disappears from the computer

In version 1.12.0 I temporarily managed to bypass the problem by adding the game installer to my antivirus exclusions – the game worked for a while, but after a few days, when I restarted my PC, the shortcut stopped working and the DSJ4.exe file was simply gone from the installation folder, as if it had been removed automatically.

The same thing now happens in version 1.12.2 – sometimes the installer fails, sometimes (for example when I switched the installer language to English) the installation works, but after rebooting the PC, DSJ4.exe disappears again.

3 – Problems with saving progress in the Compete mode

I also had issues with saving the game – in the Compete mode, the game frequently crashed right after pressing the Save button. After adding DSJ4 to my antivirus exclusions, this issue temporarily stopped.

However, yesterday I created a new Competition save, and today – as described above – the game no longer launched because DSJ4.exe had been deleted from my computer again.

---
Summary

- the DSJ4 installer often throws an “Access denied” error when creating DSJ4.exe
- even if installation succeeds, DSJ4.exe gets deleted after restarting the PC
- saving in Competition mode used to crash the game before adding exclusions
- after adding exclusions it worked for some time
- but after creating a new save, DSJ4.exe was once again automatically removed
- running the installer as Administrator does not fix the issue
- right now the game cannot install at all

It seems like something in the system or antivirus software is removing the DSJ4.exe file despite exclusions.

Do you know what could be causing this, and how to prevent DSJ4.exe from being deleted permanently?

The save game crash ptoblem is fixed in v1.12.2.

Which antivirus software are you using? Is there anything related in its log?
